We believe in empowering individuals and families in the Thames/Coromandel and Hauraki regions by helping them recognise and alter attitudes and beliefs that contribute to family harm. Our team of experts works diligently to deliver targeted abuse prevention and intervention services, tailored to meet the unique needs of each situation.

    This includes the following areas:

    • Partner abuse

    • Child abuse and neglect

    • Elder abuse

    • Sibling violence

    • Violence towards Parents

    • Dating violence

  • Helping you take responsibility, make amends and move forward
If you’ve been offered Police Diversion for a minor, first-time offence, FRST can help you meet the conditions and get back on track. We offer confidential, non-judgemental support for people who want to take ownership of what’s happened and make meaningful change.

Our role isn’t to shame or punish. We’re here to help you figure out what led to the offence, understand how it’s affected others (and yourself), and take steps toward a better way forward.

    How it works
Once the Police confirm your diversion, you may be asked to complete a counselling programme. That’s where we come in.

FRST offers a practical, supportive process where you can:

    • Talk honestly about what happened and why

    • Explore what’s been going on in your life (stress, relationships, mental health, or other pressures)

    • Learn to manage emotions and triggers in safer ways

    • Think through the impact of your actions on others

    • Build confidence and set goals for what comes next

    Session Details
Most people complete our Diversion programme in 4–5 sessions.
You can meet us in person (Coromandel or Waikato) or via online video.

    Why FRST?
We’ve supported hundreds of people through tough moments in life. Not with judgement, but with experience, empathy, and tools that work. Whether you need to meet your diversion conditions or just want to get things sorted, we’re here to help you move forward in a better direction.

  • Professional support for those who support others
When your job involves walking alongside people through crisis, harm, or trauma, it can take its toll. Whether you’re a clinician, caseworker, social worker, lawyer, support worker, teacher, or frontline responder, the emotional load of your work can build up over time.

At FRST, we offer clinical supervision that helps professionals stay safe, resilient, and grounded in their work.

Supervision isn’t just a compliance box to tick. It’s a chance to slow down, reflect, strengthen your practice, and protect your own wellbeing. So you can keep doing what you do best.

    Who is this for?
While clinical supervision is standard in counselling, mental health, and social services, FRST also supports professionals across other high-trust, people-facing roles. Especially where ongoing exposure to distress or conflict can lead to trauma.

    We work with:

    • Clinicians and counsellors

    • Social workers

    • Corrections and probation staff

    • Teachers

    • Family violence specialists

    • Government agency workers

    • HR or EAP professionals

    • Legal professionals

    • Youth, iwi, and community workers

If your mahi regularly involves holding space for others, we’re here to support you too.

    What to expect

Supervision at FRST provides a confidential, empathetic space to:

    • Talk through challenging cases or workplace dynamics

    • Explore the emotional impact of your work in a safe, non-judgemental setting

    • Strengthen your self-awareness, boundaries, and ethical decision-making

    • Develop healthy strategies to manage stress and prevent burnout

    • Reflect on your professional growth, values, and goals

You don’t need to be in crisis to benefit. Supervision is about staying well, not waiting until things get too hard.

    Why regular supervision matters
In our experience, it’s not the one-off incident that causes the most harm, it’s the build up of emotional strain that goes unspoken or unsupported.

That’s why we recommend monthly sessions as a baseline, especially for those in high-stress or high-impact roles. Like any good safety system, supervision works best when it’s regular, relational, and responsive.

Let’s look after the people who look after everyone else.

  • For couples ready to build a strong foundation for life together
Marriage is a big step. And while planning your day is exciting, it’s just as important to prepare for the realities of life together.

FRST offers a relaxed, down-to-earth programme for couples who want to strengthen their relationship before tying the knot. Unlike traditional church-based counselling, this service is non-religious, inclusive, and tailored to the everyday challenges Kiwi couples face.

    Why it helps
Every relationship has its own set of values, beliefs, and habits. And sometimes the things we assume or avoid talking about can cause stress later on. Our programme helps you explore those deeper topics early, giving you tools to navigate life’s ups and downs together.

Some common areas we cover include:

    • Money – how you both view spending, saving, and managing finances

    • Gender roles – expectations around work, parenting, and shared responsibilities

    • Children – whether, when, and how to raise them

    • Communication styles – how you each deal with conflict, stress, and decision-making

    • Whānau and in-laws – setting boundaries and handling outside pressures

    • Long-term plans – what the future looks like and how to get there together

    How it works

    • Tailored sessions delivered in person (Coromandel & Waikato) or online

    • Safe, non-judgemental space to talk through meaningful topics

    • Usually 3–4 sessions, with flexibility to suit each couple

    • Practical tools, reflective activities, and space for real kōrero

Start your next chapter with clarity, connection, and confidence.

  • Specialist support for staff wellbeing, safety, and performance

When personal issues affect people at work, everyone feels it. From rising absenteeism to reduced productivity, unresolved stress can ripple through a team fast. Especially when the challenge involves conflict, family harm, or workplace behaviour.

FRST offers confidential, short-term support for employees and their whānau through a tailored EAP model designed to meet real-world needs.

We combine trusted counselling services with specialist expertise in behavioural issues, trauma-aware care, and family violence, areas where many generic EAP providers lack depth.

    What we offer
Our EAP service provides independent, trauma-aware support to help employees manage personal or work-related issues that may be affecting their wellbeing, focus, or ability to fully participate at work.

    We support staff experiencing:

    • Stress, anxiety, or burnout

    • Conflict with colleagues or leadership

    • Bullying, manipulation, or gaslighting

    • Personal trauma or family harm

    • Life changes impacting work (grief, relationships, caregiving)

    • Challenges adjusting to new roles or team dynamics

We also support people who witness or disclose family violence, helping them understand their options and access safety without judgement.

    Why FRST?

    • Behavioural specialists – Our experience goes beyond general counselling. We’re experts in complex interpersonal dynamics, conflict resolution, and trauma-informed care.

    • Human and empathetic – We support people with honesty, kindness, and respect. No ticking boxes or vague advice, just real conversations that make a difference.

    • Trusted in the field – Our facilitators are highly experienced, registered professionals.

    • Local & flexible – We offer face-to-face sessions across the Waikato and Coromandel, with online options available nationwide.

    How it works

    • Sessions are confidential, independent, and available to employees and their whānau

    • Short-term support (usually 2–4 sessions per issue)

    • Clear reporting options for employers (while maintaining employee privacy)

    • Can be purchased as part of a wider wellbeing package or stand-alone service

Support your people before things escalate.

  • Helping blended whānau find their rhythm.

Bringing two families together isn’t easy. Even with the best intentions, blended families often find themselves navigating unspoken expectations, emotional ups and downs, and the unique pressures that come with parenting and step-parenting under one roof.

At FRST, we offer safe, practical support for couples and families who want to make blended life work, not just on paper, but in real, everyday moments.

Whether it’s parenting disagreements, loyalty struggles, tension between children and new partners, or conflict with ex-partners — we’ve seen it all. And we know the difference it makes when families have space to talk it through, gain new tools, and feel supported.

Why blended families need tailored support

No two blended families are the same, but many face similar challenges:

    • Disagreements over parenting or discipline

    • Children struggling to adjust or acting out

    • Jealousy, resentment, or feeling like an outsider

    • Communication breakdowns between partners

    • Difficult relationships with ex-partners or extended whānau

    • Constant stress and feeling like nothing is working

You don’t have to navigate it all alone.

    How we can help

Our counsellors work with couples, individuals, and families to:

    • Understand what’s really going on beneath the surface

    • Learn new ways to communicate and stay connected under pressure

    • Develop shared expectations around roles, parenting, boundaries, and respect

    • Support children through the transition — including teenagers

    • Reduce conflict and strengthen your bond as a couple and a whānau

Whether you’re just starting out as a blended family or you’ve been living together for years, it’s never too early (or too late) to build healthier dynamics.

    What to expect
    Blended family counselling sessions are:

    • Respectful and judgement-free

    • Tailored to your specific whānau situation

    • Focused on what’s working — and what needs support

    • Available in-person (Coromandel/Waikato) or via secure online sessions

We meet you where you’re at, and help you move forward — together.

    Why FRST?

With over 30 years of experience supporting families through complex change, FRST offers more than just talk therapy. We understand the behavioural, emotional, and relational patterns that can get in the way — and we know how to shift them safely. Our support is grounded in empathy, trauma-informed care, and practical strategies that actually make a difference.

Let’s help your blended whānau thrive.
